Dec. 22nd, 2008 07:18 pmChanged to a holiday theme, my dark green theme was getting a bit much, new icon too.
I bought a new handbag, just a black canvas with tan stitching, twenty dollar thing, but it's nice to have a new one. Got that at TJ Maxx, thank goodness for discount stores with a touch of class. Got more Xmas cards too, am actually sending them out for the first time in years. They'll be late, but oh well.
Church is really nice, they are just renting this older church, they are that kind of church. One of my mom's old friends called her when she was in the hospital and recommended The Vineyard. But they were far away, rented the Danbarry theater before this move. But the new location is 10 minutes away on foot, you can't beat that. They are pretty young, but not lenient, not new republicans either. I like the pastors and the other members, saw an old family friend there. She is my sister's age, very nice. I also noticed a name from my own class at the old church.
I was going somewhere with Pat, a friend from alanon, and was saying the Vineyard was over on this side of town now, she said she sometimes went to my old church, St. Martins. I said I had thought that the Vineyard was one of those "easy churches", but then that mabye that's what I needed. Esp. not being to a church in 20 years.
The pastor wears jeans & cotton shirts & sweaters, they have free coffee and usually a cookie or bagel type item before and after service. To me it's about the content, I don't miss the ornamentation, though I used to like it, the artwork a lot. Then I fell into hell, and just didn't give a darn about the nice stonework and stained glass. I don't despise it, just don't feel about it the way I used to.
Merry Christmas All

in case you don't have a tree yet, Geppetto just made this one, and Linus delivered it:
