I just saw a bit of Brothers and Sisters, and I think Balthazar Getty is in it, as Sally Field's son. Every time I see him, there's a part of my brain that says, "Charlie Sheen's love child". Can't help it, the timing seems right, Charlie Sheen gets around, and I think there are a lot of kids in Hollywood who either are turkey baster babies, or they're just not what they seem. Which is general is true of Hollywood, everything is not what it seems.

Danny Huston is another guy who looks like someone other than his dad--he looks almost dead on like Jack Nicholson, his sister's ex-boyfriend and one of his ostensible dad's closest friends. Okay, now I'm being paranoid and NOT minding my own business. Why do I pay attention to stuff like this? I'm probably avoiding parts of my life I should be working on. It really does rather bother me that I do this and am not more constructive with my days.

[livejournal.com profile] harry_potter had an interesting question about Michael Gambon's Dumbledore, versus Richard Harris. Also, just that MB's DD was really fairly off character from the books, that he is not the contemplative character that DD is supposed to be, nowhere near as calm and logical. Too true, though I suppose they could have found someone worse.

Apparently Tim Roth was JKR's original choice for Snape, or who she had in mind. Alan Rickman pretty much owns it, as far as getting the character right on. Better than Michael G. gets Dumbledore, as it was pointed out. Very interesting...

I went to a benefit Friday night for a friend's son, he needs medical treatment, has no health insurance left and is now unemployed, has a family. Very nice family overall, his mom Geneva is my friend. They're Catholic and had 8 kids, two of which have passed on I think. They were all born within a year or two of each other. They had all kinds of places donate goods and services, people did things like make afghans and jewelry, whatnot. I won a basket with a Homedics meditation fountain and scented products like body spray, a foot scrubber, etc. Kind of nice. I honestly can't picture me enjoying the meditation fountain, but whatever. I might after all. Was glad to get the other stuff, will save me from having to buy shower gel and whatnot. Almost everyone at our table won something. Nice. I'm dogsitting at Patty's now, have not been out for a couple days, well, inhome internet is my excuse.

Though I did like Harris' character as DD, I at times felt he really wasn't into the character, that he was acting, and not feeling the part. He was a much better actor, in my opinion, then he showed in Potter, though I still liked him a lot.

Gambon, for me, took some getting use to, especially the look, but I liked him none the less. As you said, we could have had much worse.

Tim Roth would have made a great Snape, and there was another actor, whose name escapes me at the moment, that would have been good also, but you're right Rickman own him.

"that he was acting, and not feeling the part."

Me too, a bit stiff and technical. I wish he'd had better health, or he might have ended up putting some more life into the act.

I would like to rip that horrible beard accessory off every time I see it, and I keep thinking of that "who took my weed stash" icon when I think of him. Lol.

ROFL!! I never quite looked at his beard accessory like that. It now will make me look at him in a different light.

The big thing that bugged me about him was his finger nails. Harris' nails were regular, and clean, but Gambon's are N.A.S.T.Y. :~O

Lol,I've been blocking out the nails. True, though. And he just looks rather scruffy in general. The colors are mentally much sharper in the book than the movies, if you know what I mean.
