pigeons on the grass at last
Apr. 20th, 2008 01:44 pmI'm at the main library listening to a Terry Gross/Freshair.npr.org interview with R.E.M.--Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills. I've been wanting this for a couple weeks, but it's going in one ear and out the other. Darn. Mike Stipe said his sexuality is 70/30, that for every 7 men he is attracted to, he is attracted to 3 women.
Also, he's talking about his dreams, which he says always have been set in a post-apocalyptic future. Wow, I've only ever had about 2 dreams like that, and I rather hated them. I guess the future is a place where I am least comfortable, because I'm such a security-oriented individual. I used to thing only the past and what was already done was important, that the good stuff had already happened, and it seemed to me that the older I got, the less good there was in my life.
It's hard to believe I ever thought that way. I guess I've had to just dig myself out of hell a few times in my life, just to get out of the kind of depression that hopeless thinking causes. I guess you just learn that if you don't give some time to maintaining your peace of mind, you'll just keep sinking. Everybody probably knows what I mean.
