I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last Sun., & of course liked it. So this is a spoily entry if you haven't seen that yet.

It was awfully dark and dingy, and for a while the sound wasn't so great, could barely hear Mrs. Figg. She didn't live up to my mental image of her. Lol, but that doesn't make it a bad film. Umbridge was just as horrible as she could be, and they did a pretty good job of compressing a lot of dialogue into the spirit of things.

The kids who played the young James and Snape were fine, esp. Snape. James was blonde, which I thought was awful when I saw the advance pics, but not so bad on screen.

It always occurs to me to wonder how the Ministry does not notice magic being performed in Little Whinging, such as broomsticks being flown by the Order memembers or Tonks cleaning up Harry's trunk with a spell. But when it's Dobby or Harry, they know.

When Hermione and Ron were telling Harry he ought to tell Dumbledore about the hand-shredding punishment Umbitch gave him, I thought but she's just going to say he lied. Okay, self, that was brilliant.

The scene where Trelawney gets told to vacate the premises didn't indicate she was a bit looped on the cooking sherry, IMO, just that she was loopy naturally. And McGonagall was wearing red lipstick, I think. The fireworks could have been a bit more like the book, and I wish they'd put the swamp in, but the notices Umbelievable posted going up in bits and pieces was quite satisfying.

Now I don't remember enough and want to see it again. Loved the Patronuses and seeing Aberforth and his goat.

ETA: Oh, yeah, and Umbridge totally looks, to me, as though she were based on Queen Elizabeth II. Maybe just because of the brooches and the pink outfits and hair. In the book the descriptions didn't fit that thought, she just seemed like a superfeminine, fakely feminine toad.
