Mmmmmmm...chocolate! Granola bar w/ choc chips and coating. Seemingly sinful, but oh, so tasty. And satisfies my hunger till I eat something real. Made a bit of $$ this weekend, petsitting for a dog, cat and bird while their 'rents were doing a weekend in a cabin somewhere. I honestly think they could treat their pets better. Sometimes C. picks up the cat and shoves her in the dog's face, which she hates. He barks and barks and is huge. He seems to think it does no harm, but they don't show her much affection and call her the hag, never say anything nice about her. He used to beat the other cat when he took a crap someplace, but he was only doing it because they wait forever to change the cat litter, or because the other cat got a treat and he hadn't had any for a while. Also, they never went outside because they were declawed (like it matters in that house, it gets so messy, no one's going to notice claw marks).
V. And C. don't play with them, and they get so bored. The dog is so overweight because they feel sorry for his arthritis and bone spur, so they feed him tons of junk food. Which makes him enormous and contributes to his inability to walk, go outside or hold his bodily waste. Bloody hell.

I wiped out on the sidewalk when I was going to get the bus there. It was rainy & my umbrella turned inside out because of the wind. I was trying to fix it, and didn't see the slippery piece of clear plastic in front of me. OUCH! I fell on my L. knee and skinned it, ripped a hole in my best pair of jeans and broke a spoke on an umbrella that's a few months old. Argh. I realized i'm always having accidents and losing things--sweatshirts, gloves, scarves, books & etc., in conjunction with being at this couple's house. Not that it hasn't happened before, but I notice that lately, I get this amazingly absentminded streak when I have to go there. I doubt I'll ever figure it out though.

In case anyone was wondering about the puppy, I haven't seen her again. I don't have enough money to keep a dog right now anyway, and it's enough to have the cat, I'm thinking.

There's a potluck supper tomorrow that I'm going to, so thank goodness I made a bit of money on the petsitting. I guess i'm just going to make a cake, which is cheap and easy. I haven't cooked in so long, and don't have any of my recipes with me. I'd love to have them, though, and get hold of my mom's cookbook and copy some.

Someone was actually selling Street Vibes outside today. I haven't seen anyone doing that in months. It's a paper about the homeless and people in jail, etc. and the people who sell it are often homeless and jobless. It's a legitimate way for them to make money so they dont' have to beg and bother people, or depend on what panhandling gives them. It's really difficult to eat when you're homeless. The drop in shelter apparently has just cheap starchy stuff. Macaroni and cheese and cooked onions. No corn, green beans, chicken, whatever. Sheesh. And that's for supper. You have to find your other meals elsewhere. It's tough.

The newspaper is kind of interesting.

I'm so glad to be back on the internet. It's been a few days since I've been able to get to one.

Glad you're back on! :)

So sorry to hear about your bad luck with the umbrella in the rain. I broke mine the other day because of the really bad wind but it stayed together enough to cover me.
