Sep. 10th, 2004 10:45 am2 people on the bus talking to themselves, one really well off-looking, speaking in a normal voice but for the resentment and anger in it, the other very shabby and difficult to tell the sex for sure. The second talked in a very bizarre voice, kind of like the munchkins in the Wizard of Oz. It seems like these people never speak in a happy voice, it's always persecuted, angry, resentful.
Anyway, I know I'm having my period real soon--yesterday, I could barely get out of bed, got a bit done, went back to bed. Finally in the afternoon, I decided I needed coffee even if it kept me up late, so I drank a large cup. That did the trick and I was able to get the tv downstairs and set up, and get some other things done. but this morning was almost the same story. I wanted to get down here to the library and get some things done at T1, email, etc., but I kept putting it off out of tiredness. I need an android to keep me awake. Nicely.
I usually look at my friend's page, but don't have time today.

Date: 2004-09-11 12:23 pm (UTC)I've only ever used aspirin, till someone told me about ibuprofen--Advil. It works really well, and now I just buy the cheap Walgreens version, since it's the same ingredient. It works the same. I never used Midol, but I think I was just too suspicious of medecines in general. I may try it, though, if it works better than ibuprofen! I never thought of trying the BC pills.
They say the abdominal cramps are caused by the spasming of the cervix, which is a very tight muscle, and the strongest muscle in the human body. The spasms can be worse than the pains of a heart attack. Women who have given birth to at least one child report that cramping is not nearly so bad. Doctors think this is because the cervical muscle has been stretched a great deal, and it is now not as tightly closed as it was in the years before birth.
I've heard also that there is a procedure where the cervix is stretched by a doctor, which relieves the pain in the same way. You only have to do that once (or have one baby!).
Well, anyway, I hope something works, since it really seems unnecessary to keep having all the pain.
What I hate also is the heavy flow, and what I used to worry about a lot: I thought it was blood clots, and menstrual blood is not supposed to clot. But I talked to a doctor, and she said women with a heavy flow experience that and it isn't out of the norm at all. It happens every month, and after it stops, the cramps stop, and though I still have a couple more days to go in my period.
My sister in law says hers never lasts more than 2 days, sometimes only one day. I guess some women have it that good.
Didn't mean to go on that long! Anyway, I hope something works, since it really seems unnecessary to keep having all the pain.
