Per [livejournal.com profile] kyraille from [Unknown site tag] here at lj. I have wanted to try some biscotti for years, meaning make it myself since I love to get it in cafes & whatnot, and she had posted this:

My mom got the recipe when she was in Italy this summer, it's absolutely delicious. I posted it to my journal a while ago, let me find it and c&p it in...

3 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs
7 tablespoons butter (room temperature or slightly squishy)
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped almonds
2 tablespoons orange zest (ground-up orange peels)
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
cinnamon, chocolate powder, etc (optional)

preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and you need 3 of those big baking pan-sheet-things (cookie sheets, are they called? I have no idea) and cover them with wax paper or parchment paper, and lightly dust them with flour.

1. sift the flour and baking powder into a medium-sized bowl (medium, because you're putting the other stuff in a bigger one).
2. mix up the butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric hand mixer until they look fluffy. then add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the almonds and the orange zest. and the vanilla and cinnamon and all that if you'd like.
3. slowly add in the flour mix, and you'll probably need a fairly badass mixer for this because the dough is trememdously sticky.
4. so once all that is blended up, shape the dough into three separate blobs and mold each one into a log-type shape and plop them onto the pans. make sure they're kind of flat on top, otherwise they'll be too squishy inside when you cut them up later.
5. bake them at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.
6. take them out and slice them into strips about 3/4 of an inch thick, and flip each strip onto its side.
7. put them back in the oven and bake for another 15 minutes.
8. et voila! biscotti!
