Sprained my foot yesterday, was a bit scared it was broken, but after a while realized it was just a sprain.

Swollen now!

Tired, got a headache, headed for bed. Linda came over today, unexpected, but that's good. It means I didn't worry about cleaning up the place first. Henry mowed the lawn.

The cat must be really tired since she has not come downstairs for hours and hours. She is usually in & out all of the time. She's allowed out, which is nice. I hope she doesn't kill any birds. She has a permanent injury that won't allow her to use one leg, except as almost like a crutch. She uses it to walk and partly to jump, but that's about it. Cute kitty though.

She'll be gone tomorrow or Tues. though, Linda's back from vacation.

I started my period, so that explains the headache.

I also uploaded a lot of the avs & things I'd saved to the computer, to Photobucket. I really needed to get images out of the comp., since I had so many it was slowing things down. I made a banner from a quote of Viggo's that I like. Too bad I only have paint.

I never really make much for anyone else, and figure it's okay for my to put my humble stuff out there in my sig or info page, but I'm never sure other people will like it, esp. when I don't have but the most rudimentary graphics.

Eh, time to head for bed.

Story by Liz Mzimba, BBC

JK Rowling gave fans some tantalising titbits about the future Potter books at her reading at the Edinburgh Children's Book Festival on Sunday.

She said she was well into writing book six. She said she was "just over halfway through it". She added it was her favourite book so far.

"Of course I am the only one who has read it and I think it's rather good."

Two key questions

She did not give much away about book six, which will be called Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but she said a lot of questions will be answered in it.

She also revealed there were two key questions about the whole plot that she had never been asked.

The first is Why didn't Voldemort die when he tried to kill Harry? JK said that in the end of book four, Voldemort had said he had taken various steps against dying, but we should be wondering exactly what he did.

Dumbledore knows more!

The second question is Why didn't Dumbledore try to kill Voldemort in that scene at the end of book five?

Dumbledore gave a kind of reason to Voldemort but it's not the real answer, and that Dumbledore knows something more.

JK said if we are wondering about the overall plot, we should be concentrating on those two questions.

Squib?

She also tantalisingly answered a question about Aunt Petunia. When asked, JK said no, Petunia is not a squib, as she is muggle-born, but...... and left the sentence hanging.

She said we will find out a bit more about her in the other books and that there's more to Petunia than meets the eye!

She also revealed some more general snippets of information, including:

-Aberforth Dumbledore is the barman in the Hog's Head
-Dumbledore's patronus is a phoenix
-Grawp will be more controllable in the sixth book
-We will see a bit more of Rita Skeeter
-There will be a new character called McLagan
-Harry does NOT have a godmother

The full transcript of the Q&A session will be available on JK's official website soon.

Been watering the garden. Need to take a shower. Foot still pretty swollen, not as bad as yesterday, though. Forgot to take my meds this a.m. Would kind of like to take a trip to Clifton. They have a decent grocery store up there as well as a health food store I want to go to for whole wheat flour. Or not, I guess I could get that at Kroger, but only if it's on sale, to stretch the budget.

What was I going to say that was oh, so important? I don't remember.

Need to call and renew library books if they are due, which they probably are.

I keep thinking about how crazy Virginia gets around stuff in the kitchen. I realized after a while I just gave up trying to get it right. You couldn't please her. She didn't even criticize because it was so bad, it was just because she was upset about something she wouldn't or couldn't do anything about.

Thinking of making chocolate biscuits. These are just regular drop biscuits you make but without milk or much oil, add cocoa powder and sugar. Mmmmm... not too fattening, just what you need for comfort food. I want whole wheat flour to make them, & don't have any. But there is toasted wheat germ in the 'fridge, so I'll try that till I can get some wwf at the store.

Tired, probably from worrying about a bunch of stuff that isn't bad in the first place, or that isn't so bad but that I can't do anything about. So it goes.

I'd made a Snoopy and Woodstock icon (over at GJ [livejournal.com profile] eleventhhour) for myself, and for whatever reason got sick of the Orlando layout, so put the icon in and it's tiled a zillion times. Kind of cute I guess.
