St. Dymphna's - A Harry Potter RPG
Just thought that was funny. :D
Some guy named Anthony Watkins was sitting next to me at the computer. He said he has a book of poems and belongs to a poetry society. He resented the attention given local soldier Matt Maupin (killed by his kidnappers in Iraq--he's a US soldier of course) versus other locals. I guess he thought his poetry should be out there. He had written an email, used "sent" for "since", "U" for "you", "walnuthill" for "Walnut Hills", etc. He admitted to not being good at this sort of thing in addition to being a slow typist, and I helped him type the rest of the email.
The problem is that his English is so bad, it's doubtful he'll be taken seriously by the majority of people in our area (white, fairly well educated). He was very nice and intelligent, though. I don't know whether he'll get the tools he needs or not. I suppose he'll make it okay, anyway.
I remember a bus driver saying somewhat the same thing. I was talking about the blasted stadium tax, where we reach into our own pockets to pay for a stadium most of us cannot afford to attend functions in. The driver was saying that that money could have been used to help poor people. Which I suppose it could, but people aren't going to give money to them when they actually can see the ballplayers doing something. I'm not sure how that stupid tax got passed, but one of the claims was that the stadium provides jobs. I doubt very many, though, and they're seasonal. I do like baseball, I do like the Reds, but Why the hell can't they pay for their own park?
Would the money have gone to poor people who lead good lives, or a mix of bad and good--people always find a way to milk the system. Would we still have halfway decent ball, even if it wasn't major league? Probably, it's baseball for crying out loud.
